Kurt Vile and The Violators Kansas City Concert reviews
Disappointed Fan
Here is the rearranged review with a few words switched:
"Frankly, I was geeked about going but left at intermission because I was put off by his lack of enthusiasm for being there ~ and I wasn't the only one. The songs seemed really slow in tempo ... While taking lots of sips of water and having assistants help him change guitars <sigh>, he didn't grab attention with something upbeat and popular. When the audience wanted to hear a favorite, he seemed to brush them off with "I'll get to it later ... and held up his playlist. Still, they love him. I hate to be a negative Nellie here, but I just wasn't feeling any love or connection to his audience from Kurt Vile and The Violators in Grand Rapids. The new songs were a lot more country than past favorites. He still has his voice, but I think his enthusiasm has taken a nose dive. Sorry James, but I was hoping for more."
